University Review Committee (URC)
The University shall have a review committee to consider tenure and other matters specifically assigned to this committee in the Agreement - see (Article 15.8.4) for details.
About Tenure, Promotion and Renewal
Renewal of Probation
Each employee who holds a probationary appointment shall be considered for renewal during the final year of the initial probationary appointment unless considered for tenure - (Article 14).
Tenure
Tenure means the appointment of an employee to a permanent position on the academic staff of the University - (Article 15).
Promotion
An employee may be considered for promotion to the next rank in any year - (Article 16).
Standards for Promotion and Tenure
- Faculty appointed prior to July 1, 2012 will continue to be considered under the 2002 University Standards and College Standards approved in conjunction with the 2002 University Standards for their tenure decision. View 2002 Memo.
- Faculty appointed on or after July 1, 2012 will be subject to 2011-12 University Standards and corresponding College Standards for tenure, renewal of probation and promotion decisions. View 2012 Memo.
- Faculty appointed to an AP position on or after July 1, 2011 will be subject to 2011-12 College AP Standards for tenure, renewal of probation and promotion decisions.
